Quality of Geocoding

Improving the Geocoding of foreign Addresses

FACT is:   A geomarketing program - is only as good as - it can geocode addresses.

The optimal program routines for geocoding are strongly dependent on the country,
and  . . . it follows that geocoding can only be carried out with the support of native speakers.

            • Only a German  - knows the different spelling of German addresses.
            • Only a Frenchman - knows the different spellings of French addresses.

The same applies to British, Spanish and Italian addresses, to name a few.

TESTING:  How do we test the quality of a geocoding?

        1. For comparison, we use reference lists with - 100% correctly(*) - geocoded addresses.
This is typically a mix of company addresses, addresses of authorities and institutions.
          (*) validated in - Sattellite - mode.

        2. We compare the geocodes by Air distances.
Tested Program (e.g. Maptitude) :  "Program Longitude" / "Program Latitude"
          Compared Program: " - 100% - Longitude" / " -100% - Latitude"

   Level of accuracy air distance

IMPROVE:   The spelling of German addresses - is highly complex -.
E.g. You need cross tables with all possible address variations. ~ 500 + !

Our company helps other companies in the development of optimal geocoding routines
                    for the GERMAN market.
